Thankyou for the history we Whites are not told about the history of our country. A friend f mine is Cherokee and his people were on the Trail of Tears march to the reservation. They are still bitter about it and they should be.

There’s no alcohol on reservations but right outside the reservation there’s bars . The government didn’t honor the treaties they promised with the native Indians some tribes which are called nations . It’s sad our First Nations don’t get help an on some reservations are very poor . There’s about over 1000 different nations ( tribes ) you can go to the tribes an get history , each tribe is different history an what can an can not do . Each reservation is different, the Navajo based in Arizona an New Mexico some on reservation have no running water there reservation is 2000 acres they have different communities on reservation the government made the natives go to these reservations after the government took their land .

Native peoples should have autonomy over what happens to this land (their land). Native stories are so often taught and spoken of as if they are only a part of the past, when this is all really happening today and impacts our (as settlers, as a country, etc.) future. Im looking forward to seeing more Native dishes and stories across the internet and in our daily lives! I know of only 2 Native-owned restaurants that feature Native cuisine (Ohlone and Navajo). Turtle Island is vast, there should be many more!!

Ash also brings out nutrients in the corn, in addition to adding trace minerals if I remember correctly….^.^

Was reading a firsthand account from a Hidatsa woman recently (Buffalo Bird Woman's Garden) where the author describes corn cob ash as being one of her favorite seasonings, and she says that that seasoning would never last long in her own household! The Hidatsa live in the Mississippi river basin, so its interesting to see the use of ash seasoning in an entirely different ecosystem with your recipe! Humans do the same things no matter where they are!

Reservations are independent nations so no they are not part of America.

Another piece of messed up history carrying on into our time: Germany is traumatised by the crimes of the nazies in way more aspects as anticipated. I their time they stole arish looking children from not german/ valueable seen people declaring, they where stolen german kids that got rescued and if a woman was seen unfit to rais her children into the germans of their dreams, many got castrated, not just made steril, but their inner organs where removed which not only took their ability to have children, but also part of their identity and had severe healthimplications, those women where left a total mess . . . because of this we now have a very strikt line to keep children with their mother, anyway possible, unless their lifes are in imminent danger . . . even in cases, where it realy would be better to get the kid out of there . . . . . my mother got child after child, all landed in care, but she just got another one . . . one of the later ones almost died from malnuritment and the little I know about my siblings is, that we all are mentaly messes. One is for years on end in a psychiatry, one is so afraid of leaving her home, she just does not for several years, I'm depressed and was suicidal for at least 7 years . . . .
every country has its bloody past and things to work through, but it is so much easier to just paint someone the bad guy or brush things of. Germans are branded for genocide americans are not . . . Germanys history of antisemitism gets worked through and many precautions are met to prevent something similar to happen again. In america it gets painted as some irrelevant part of the past . . . an interessting and depressing depiction of who winns the war writes the history . . . never forgett, that people are always flawed, history is always blody and every person has the right to be judged by their own actions. Nationalities do not make us good or bad people, do not make us share a way of thinking or determins our worth. Everyone should have the same chances and get the same respect untill they are proven unworthy of it by their own deeds.
We can learn so much from native people, humanity always only geather knowlage through contact with others and there is so much beauty to find, if you just look past initial differences
