    I just made this stuffing/dressing with some homemade potato rolls that actually turned into a homemade potato flatbread because the dough was too wet.

    The flavors were incredible. The eggs…a huge mistake. The consistancy was spongy and gross. We were only able to eat the stuffing by drowning it in gravy, which defeats the purpose of all those great flavors. I made the stuffing a few days later without the eggs and it was perfect. Just FYI. Thanks for the recipe.

    So when do you put the stuffing in the bird? Otherwise you've mis-named the dish … it would be dressing, not stuffing.

    Couldn't find my late mom's recipe for dressing so I went with this one and it was soooooo good! Of course my mom was the best cook in the whole world, but my brother slipped up and said that this was the best dressing he had ever had. I think I'm going to make it for Christmas even though we're not having turkey. I'll probably make it throughout the year as well. It's just that good.

    Carla, you could have crammed all your verbiage into five or six minutes and saved us all some time. And you should have used cornbread as well, half and half white bread, and your product would have been much better. Me, I also throw in a pint of Blue Points, with liquor, but that's just me, but it sure beats the crap out of what you cooked.

    Almost works! I wud skip the initial baking of the ?. You can use less butter n stock n skip rehydration. Final result: Reduced time, healthy prep and more softer final texture.

    My granny and my mom made super simple stuffing. Onion, celery and butter. Then a pint of oysters! Cooked all together pepper only for seasoning. Bread eggs and chicken stock.

    Made this exact recipe and OMG. It was so so good. Nothing fancy but all the herbs and everything matches so well you wouldn't think it was this easy to make. Also I love the texture better with cutting the bread by hand unevenly.
