Imagine putting ketchup in your meatloaf instead of tomato paste or just a blended down tomato cooked with the garlic and onion so nothing burns.

The ending was so funny. I have a question. My mom cooked awesome meatloaf, and one ingredient that she used, missing in yours is Worcestershire sauce. Any reason why you don't use that sauce? Just wondering as most recipes I've seen use it. Much mahalo!

Looks pretty decent Jenny, I’d also consider wrapping it in bacon rashers for extra taste. Hi from uk ??

I use a loaf pan which has a rack and the unwanted oil drains as it cooks. Going to try this one.

My grandmother had a loaf pan from the 50's or 60's thad had a sort of lift out insert thad had four bump outs on the bottom that kept the insert about a quarter of an inch off the very bottom of the pan. The fats remained in the pan when the meatloaf and insert were lifted out. Made fantastic bread shaped loads ?

I dunno – yes, reading the reviews of this being the "best" meatloaf of course makes one try it, especially that I never liked my moms' meatloaf and that woman could cook – not surprisingly, the family owned restaurants – but I tried this meatloaf and I do not think it is the best meatloaf. Unfortunately, I really didn't like it, at all. But tonight I made one and we'll see how it goes because I never make a meatloaf the same way twice. There are so many variations and personal taste preferences that by freewheeling it, I never make it the same. When it's gone in a day – it's GOOD‼
Three different meats make a good meatloaf, for my preference and though I haven't done this for a bit, Campbells Tomato Soup is a good topping. In an awesome mini Cuisinart, 8 inches high by 6 inches width, goes any veggies – if included, baby red peppers are the sweetest and this mini cuisinart gives you the juice from the vegetables – or a tad of water swished around.
    Thanks for the upload.

#1 do not saute the onions. Use 1 whole onion. It will add to the moisture. Don't add whole garlic. Save that for the Lamb and prime rib. Use equal amounts of salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
#2 you don't need thyme. Unless you want your meatloaf to taste like an over powered Thanksgiving stuffing. Use parsley.
#3 Don't use oatmeal. Save that for breakfast. Use Italian style bread crumbs.
#4 Don't ever put milk in your meatloaf
#5 don't use ketchup. Save it for the burgers and dogs. Use hot sauce or BBQ sauce.
#6 don't put mustard in it. Save it for your ham sandwich. Shredded cheddar cheese is a nice addition.

Cooked this today and it is the best. I cooked a meat loaf a few years ago and it was dry and fatty. This recipe was moist, full of flavour and not at all fatty. Thanks Jenny you really CAN cook

Hi, so I'm going to make your meatloaf recipe. I do have a couple of questions. I only have red pepper to use, sadly the green pepper needs to say goodbye. I also don't have an onion except for purple or there's onion powder. I wanted to know your thoughts on which I should use or is there any other substitute? Thank you♥
